Fannie Nkosi to return to court on September 15

Fannie Nkosi, a suspended police Sergeant, is set to return to court on September 15, 2023, to disclose dockets in two consolidated cases against her. The matter was transferred to the Regional Court in Pretoria following the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) securing a centralisation certificate to merge Nkosi's two cases.

In the first case, Nkosi faces charges of defeating the ends of justice for allegedly pretending to be a high-ranking police officer from Pretoria and interfering with evidence at the Thohoyandou Police Station in Limpopo in 2022. The second case involves multiple charges against Nkosi, including theft, fraud, and defeating the ends of justice. During a police raid on her Pretoria North property, officials allegedly found her in possession of illegal ammunition, firearms, official police dockets, and a large sum of money.

Since her arrest in April of this year, Nkosi has been behind bars. She is expected to remain in custody until her next court appearance next month. The state claims to have a strong case against Nkosi, indicating that only the disclosure of the dockets is necessary. Nkosi, who once worked for the police's Organized Crime Unit, was suspended in March.
