A novembre sarà pronto...
The conversion of the former Whirlpool manufacturing facility into a center for advanced research is underway. Italian Green Factory, part of the Tea Tek group, will produce components for solar power plants. The research center is set to open in November, just two years after the closure of the Whirlpool plant. The project, backed by a 90 million euro investment and a development contract, aims to reindustrialize the area.
The center will be located in two sites: one in Naples at the former Whirlpool site, and the other in Pomigliano d'Arco after a purchase by Stellantis. The production of cabling, electrical panels, transformer cabins, and power skids will take place in Naples, while the production of solar panel frames and modules will occur in Pomigliano.
The research center, which will also house a quantum computer and a cryogenic laboratory, is expected to hire 12 researchers by February 2027. This 30 million euro investment, with a 12 million euro contribution from Igf, is part of a broader 92 million euro project for the productive aspect and 25 million for the research component.
