Delhi couple held for selling ₹1.10-cr Gurugram flat using forged documents

A Delhi couple has been apprehended for allegedly selling a ₹1.1-crore property in Gurugram using counterfeit documents, according to police on Wednesday. The suspects, identified as Bhanu Priya Narang (33) and Dhruv Sharma (35), purportedly utilized a falsified bank statement, foreclosure-related screenshots, and documents purportedly featuring a bank no-objection certificate (NOC) to mislead the buyer about the property's loan status, police reported.

A man filed a complaint on April 4 alleging the couple had agreed to sell him a flat in Sushant Lok Phase-2 for ₹1.10 crore. The accused informed him the loan on the flat was outstanding and assured him it would be settled, police said. The buyer paid the full amount in installments over several dates. To convince him the loan was repaid, the accused purportedly displayed a bank statement and foreclosure-related screenshots.

Following the sale deed execution on January 23, 2025, verification with the bank revealed a ₹35.70 lakh outstanding loan, and the bank statement was deemed fake, police said. The accused were arrested on Tuesday after the complaint. They are residents of Delhi. The police are currently verifying each fact and piece of evidence in accordance with the law. Further action will depend on the evidence uncovered.
