Cross-border Causeway Link buses from Newton, Queen Street to go cashless from Aug 20

Those who still wish to pay by cash should purchase their ticket before boarding.

Starting August 20, commuters traveling to Malaysia from Newton and Queen Street will no longer be able to pay for their Causeway Link bus fares using cash. In a Facebook post on August 17, Causeway Link announced that card payments will be the only method for board payments. The accepted card types are Visa, Mastercard, ManjaLink, and ezLink.

ManjaLink is a contactless smart card used for cashless transactions on cross-border Causeway Link buses, as well as on selected bus routes within Johor, Malaysia. Alternatively, passengers can pay using the LUGO app or purchase single journey e-tickets.

For those who still prefer to pay by cash, tickets must be purchased before boarding the bus. Passengers boarding at Queen Street can obtain their bus tickets at a ManjaLink kiosk, while those boarding at Newton can buy a ManjaLink card from Causeway Link's ground staff. In addition to Causeway Link buses, passengers at Queen Street traveling to Malaysia can also utilize SBS bus service 170. Long-distance coaches are another option for travelers departing from the two stations in Singapore.
