Chairman: MARA reviews MRSM outing guidelines amid probe into disappearance of two Form Four students in Alor Gajah

MARA, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency, is currently revising the guidelines for student outings at its Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) in response to the recent disappearance of two students. The incident occurred on August 11 when two Form Four students from MRSM Alor Gajah, Melaka, went missing. According to MARA Chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, this case is isolated and should not lead to regulations that could negatively impact the functioning of MRSMs.

He emphasized that students should be given opportunities to mature and highlighted that they have been allowed to go into town once or twice a month, subject to certain conditions and without adult supervision. Asyraf Wajdi advised all parties to allow the police and relevant institutions to conduct their investigations without interference, noting that one of the girls suffered a panic attack and was hospitalized upon being found in a state of shock.

The students, both aged 16, had been taken to a health clinic before going missing and were discovered four days later near Pasar Seni in Kuala Lumpur.
