Bekas CEO of 1MDB, Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, denied allegations that he agreed to make a deal with Gopal Sri Ram, the main prosecutor in the 1MDB criminal case, in exchange for dropping his name from a lawsuit. In response to questions by defense counsel Shafee Abdullah, who is representing former Prime Minister Najib Razak, Shahrol confirmed that he met Sri Ram, dined with him, and did not strike any deal with him.

He also stated that he did not ask Sri Ram why 1MDB dropped his name from the lawsuit. Sri Ram, who served as the lead prosecutor in the 1MDB criminal case, was not offered any incentives for dropping the name. The plaintiffs in the 1MDB lawsuit are demanding USD5.64 billion in damages, according to a fourth witness. On a recent visit, 1MDB agreed to drop its civil lawsuit against Radhi, while also dropping Jasmine's name from the lawsuit.

The civil lawsuit accuses the defendants of breach of trust, statutory violations, misuse of power, and conspiracy to embezzle 1MDB funds. The ongoing trial is before Judge Mohamad Redzuan Idrus.
