Cagliari forward Trepy regains consciousness after pool accident

Cagliari forward Yael Trepy has regained consciousness after a pool accident in Sardinia. The 20-year-old was initially placed in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for two days following the incident at a villa. On Tuesday, his condition improved as his doctors gradually reduced his sedation and ventilation. Trepy was airlifted to a hospital in Sassari on Sunday after getting into difficulty while swimming with friends.

Upon awakening, Trepy showed full recovery of consciousness, with no evident neurological deficits. He remains in intensive care but will continue to be closely monitored. The incident occurred after Trepy reached an area where he could not touch the pool bottom. He had played 54 minutes in a Coppa Italia match for Cagliari the previous day.
