Brazilian Football Legend Reportedly Converts to Islam

Brazilian football icon Roberto Carlos reportedly converted to Islam in Brazil, according to Turkish lawmaker Ali Şahin. Şahin disclosed the news after conversing with representatives of Islamic organizations in São Paulo. Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh, a well-known member of Brazil’s Muslim community, informed Şahin about Carlos's recent connection and his recitation of the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith. Şahin shared this information on social media, congratulating Carlos and wishing him and his family peace, health, and blessings.

However, the former footballer and his representatives have not publicly confirmed the reported conversion, leaving the claim unverified. Carlos, 53, is celebrated as one of the greatest left-backs in football history, having played for Real Madrid and Turkey's Fenerbahçe, and leading Brazil to the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
