Aston Villa confirm double signing of Zion Suzuki and Matteo Ruggeri

Aston Villa has bolstered their squad by signing goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and left-back Matteo Ruggeri. The 23-year-old Japanese international Suzuki, who previously played for Serie A club Parma, has joined the English Premier League side for a reported £30 million fee. With uncertainty surrounding Emiliano Martínez’s future following his proposed move to Juventus falling through, Aston Villa view Suzuki as a long-term option to compete for the starting goalkeeper position.

The Italian side also secured the services of 24-year-old defender Matteo Ruggeri from Atlético Madrid for around £17 million. Ruggeri, who previously made over 100 appearances for Atalanta, joins Villa to fill the void left by Lucas Digne, who recently returned to Paris Saint-Germain. Both new signings are expected to be involved in Aston Villa's upcoming Premier League matches, including their opening fixture against Brighton on Sunday.
