The German tennis star defeated Terrance Atmane 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (8/6) with a powerful backhand down the line. Zverev, a Roland Garros champion and previous Wimbledon runner-up, expressed his satisfaction with his performance, noting that his opponent played aggressively.

Meanwhile, the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, lost their first-round doubles match against Payton Stearns and Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine 6-2, 1-6, 10-8. The sisters each dropped serve once in the first set, with Kostyuk winning the opening game. Despite falling behind 6-0 and 8-2 in the third-set tie-breaker, the sisters were unable to mount a comeback after Venus double-faulted.
