Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been jailed since August 2023, has attracted significant health concerns, prompting the Supreme Court to intervene. The three-member bench ordered authorities to transfer Khan to Islamabad's Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours for medical examination and treatment. The court also mandated the formation of a medical board comprising specialists and Khan's personal physician, as well as weekly meetings with family members.

Khan, 73, has been in custody since his conviction in a series of cases, which he claims are politically motivated following his removal from power in 2022. The former prime minister has been convicted in over 100 legal cases, including corruption, state secrets, and others. He denies all allegations and maintains that the charges are politically driven.

Khan's deteriorating health has been a cause for concern for his family, who have repeatedly expressed their fear over his declining condition. His eyesight reportedly reduced significantly following his arrest, with one family member claiming he lost about 85% of his vision in his right eye. The government initially disputed this assertion, stating that Khan's vision had improved to 70%.
