'We Are On It...': Zoya Akhtar Hints At Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Sequel; Reveals She Got 'Abused' In DMs

Zoya Akhtar, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the hit Bollywood film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), has hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the movie. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, she stated, "We are on it. Let's just put it that way. We don't know what will happen and what won't. If we find something that is and if we get to a place that it feels correct catching these characters today, that will be nice."

Zoya remains ambiguous about the future of the franchise, acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding the project.

When questioned about a viral advertisement featuring the trio of Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar, Zoya revealed that she had received abusive messages in her direct messages (DMs) regarding the video. She expressed her disappointment, saying, "People thought it was a trailer, and then I got abused in my DMs saying like this is not funny."

ZNMD, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, and Kalki Koechlin, has garnered immense popularity over the years. Released 15 years ago, the film has continued to captivate audiences, earning praise for its storytelling and performances. The movie amassed a worldwide gross of Rs. 153.10 crore and garnered multiple awards, including National Awards for Best Choreography and Best Audiography.

Zoya Akhtar, known for her directorial prowess and the creation of memorable characters, has also directed and produced other notable works, such as The Archies, which premiered on Netflix. The film featured Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda, among others. However, it has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Despite this, Zoya's fans remain eager for a sequel to ZNMD, hoping to see their favorite characters Arjun, Imraan, and Kabir reunite on the big screen once again.
