Ukraine fires nearly 800 drones at Russia

Ukrainian forces have launched one of their largest drone attacks on Russia in over four years, firing nearly 800 drones over two days, according to officials. This assault came just after a similar barrage, as Russia continues its four-year invasion of Ukraine. Meanwhile, a Russian missile strike in northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region killed at least 10 civilians and wounded 17 others, destroying homes and other buildings.

The drone attacks and missile strikes have escalated an ongoing conflict across a roughly 1,250-kilometer front line in eastern and southern Ukraine, where both sides face challenges from advanced drone and ground robot threats. These attacks have put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a peace deal, though he has shown no sign of stopping the invasion.

Ukrainian officials aim to highlight the war's impact on the Russian public and force Putin's hand. Russia's air defenses intercepted 791 Ukrainian drones over multiple regions, including Crimea and the Black and Azov seas, in what was the second-largest drone attack in the region since January 2025. Ukraine has been using long-range drones to strike deep within Russia, impressing global defense manufacturers with its technology.

Western nations, including Britain, remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia's illegal invasion.
