Tinubu’s 2027 election will be easier than 2023, says Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has stated that President Bola Tinubu will face a less challenging presidential election in 2027 compared to 2023. During a visit to flood-affected areas, Wike cited the fragmented opposition as a significant advantage for Tinubu. He explained that the opposition's weakened state, due to defections and political movements, would make it difficult for them to mount a strong challenge against Tinubu.

Wike emphasized that a credible opposition requires years of building a strong political structure rather than shifting between parties in search of an electoral platform. He firmly declared, "This 2027 election against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, no, forget it. It's over." Despite opposition criticism, Wike defended the Tinubu administration's achievements, asserting that they could not be diminished by political commentary.

He affirmed that the government had made progress in addressing major challenges, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, and vowed to continue enforcing measures against illegal structures and flooding issues.
