Tinubu meets EFCC boss, housing minister over disposal of seized houses

President Bola Tinubu convened meetings with key officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday to address the management and disposal of seized houses across the nation. The discussions took place at the State House in Abuja, as reported by the State House media office in a statement and accompanying photos.

The primary participants in the meeting were Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, and Muttaqha Rabe Darma, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. The gathering marked the first public interaction between Tinubu and Olukoyede since the President intervened in the commission's decision to freeze the accounts of the Osun State Government just days prior to the gubernatorial election.

The EFCC had obtained a court order on August 5, 2026, freezing the Osun State Government's accounts, alleging fraudulent handling of various funds. The state government contested the freeze in court, demanding exemplary damages of N2 billion while denouncing the commission's actions as a "witch-hunt." In response, Tinubu directed the EFCC to vacate the freeze order, citing embarrassment over the timing of the action, which occurred mere days before the election.

Following the election, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun conceded defeat and withdrew the suit against the EFCC. Adeleke credited the President's intervention for resolving the matter. The meeting on Tuesday comes three days after Adeleke's re-election and the withdrawal of the Osun suit, which took place in the aftermath of Tinubu's intervention.
