Tinubu hosts Doguwa, Akpabio, Oyetola at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu convened a closed-door meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja with representatives from Kano State, including Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Gboyega Oyetola, and Akpabio. The meeting took place after Doguwa arrived at the Presidential Villa at 7:15 pm, followed by Oyetola's arrival 20 minutes later. Oyetola's visit came days after the declaration of Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

Earlier, Akpabio had arrived at the President's office at 6:12 pm, with the Information Minister already in attendance. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, was also present within an hour of his meeting. The specific agenda of the meetings has not been disclosed. The Independent National Electoral Commission announced August 19, 2026, as the commencement date for political campaigns leading up to the 2027 elections.
