Thai woman dies suddenly in South Korea, family seeks help to bring her home

A 34-year-old Thai woman named Piyawan Samreedi, also known as Pla, died suddenly while working in South Korea. Her family in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand, is struggling to raise the funds needed to repatriate her body back to Thailand. Piyawan had been working in South Korea for seven years as a traditional Thai massage therapist. The family learned of her death through Facebook posts from South Korea that appealed for her relatives to come forward.

Her mother, Lamyai Samreedi, recognized the woman from local news and notified her family. Piyawan's last conversation with her mother was on August 8, when she mentioned heavy menstrual bleeding. No underlying health conditions were known. The family is awaiting official clarification from South Korean authorities on the cause of death.

Returning Piyawan's body to Thailand would cost around 200,000 baht, while cremation ashes could be brought home for around 100,000 baht. The family lacks savings and savings and is relying on casual work, making the repatriation costs unaffordable. Local authorities in Kamphaeng Phet are assisting the family in seeking help from relevant agencies. The family has established a donation account to raise funds for Piyawan's return to Thailand.
