Temerloh fuel tanker crash: Driver charged with reckless driving causing deaths of mother, child

On August 18, a tanker lorry driver appeared in the Magistrate's Court in Temerloh, pleading not guilty to two charges of reckless driving that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her son near the KM9 of Jalan Temerloh-Triang. Nor Azlan Mahayudin, 37, faced the allegations after the charges were read out before Magistrate Anis Adlina Abu Johan.

The charges, under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carry a minimum five-year sentence and a maximum of 10 years in prison, along with a fine ranging from RM20,000 to RM50,000 upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Amal Razim Alias represented the prosecution, while Nor Azlan was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) lawyer Mazieera Sharifudin.

Bail was granted at RM10,000 for the two charges, and the next court mention was set for October 1. On Friday, August 14, Nur Fatima Syuhada, 39, and Muhamad Fattah Aisy Nuafal, 12, were found dead inside a car that had caught fire after being crushed by the fuel tanker.
