Tanker driver claims trial over deaths of mother and 12-year-old son in Temerloh crash

A tanker lorry driver, Nor Azlan Mahayudin, 37, has claimed trial over the deaths of a mother, Nur Fatima Syuhada Abdullah, 39, and her 12-year-old son, Muhamad Fattah Aisy Nuafal Saifulnizam, in a crash along Jalan Temerloh-Triang last Friday. The two victims were killed when their car was crushed by the lorry at KM9 of the road around 4pm on August 14.

Nor Azlan pleaded not guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If convicted, he faces imprisonment for five to ten years and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000. The prosecution, represented by Deputy public prosecutor Amal Razim Alias, and Nor Azlan, represented by Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan lawyer Mazieera Sharifudin, await the next court hearing on October 1.

The crash occurred after the tanker, traveling from Seremban to Temerloh, skidded and overturned, striking the car. The post-mortem process on the two bodies was carried out at Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital, but their burial may not be possible until DNA test results are obtained.
