Sheikhupura police arrest suspect for allegedly attempting to rape 11-year-old girl

A 11-year-old girl was reportedly abducted and allegedly attempted to be sexually assaulted in Sheikhupura’s Ferozewala on August 15, according to a police official. The incident occurred when the girl went missing around 2pm while en route to her uncle’s residence. Upon searching for her, her family sought assistance from witnesses, who directed them to a nearby field.

There, the suspect was found attempting to assault the girl before fleeing the scene. However, he was subsequently located and apprehended by law enforcement. The crime scene was secured, and evidence was submitted for forensic analysis by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. Witness statements were recorded under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Based on the medical examination, doctors concluded that an attempted rape had taken place, and no signs of hymen rupture were observed. A first information report was registered by the girl’s father under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, initiating an ongoing investigation. According to data released by the child rights organization Sahil, Punjab has accounted for 80% of the 1,914 reported cases of child abuse across the country in the first half of 2026.
