Several wounded as Moscow region hit by drone attack

In the early hours of today, a drone attack struck a busy intersection in Pechenihy, a village in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The attack, which took place near a post office and stores surrounded by residential buildings, resulted in the death of one person and injured 17 others, as stated by the region's governor Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram. Russian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.

Meanwhile, a missile strike in northeastern Kharkiv region of Ukraine killed 10 people in a village. The attack destroyed 10 private buildings, a cafe, a post office, a store, and at least seven cars, according to Oleh Syniehubov. No immediate response was received from Russia regarding the attack.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that a drone explosion at a bus stop near Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant caused one death and 16 injuries among staff and subcontractors, including one fatality and three serious injuries. The plant, Europe's largest with six reactors, has been under Russian control since February 2022 and had not produced electricity for nearly four years.

Ukraine's ex-defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called for elections, which have been postponed due to the Russian invasion, urging for a legal, safe, and realistic mechanism to restore democracy amid the prolonged war.
