Sakon Nakhon police rescue 4 year old Thai boy clinging to ice truck

On August 17, the Sakon Nakhon police department made a daring rescue of a four-year-old Thai boy who had clung to the back of an ice truck for more than 10 kilometers along a road in Sakon Nakhon Municipality. The incident occurred around 12:20 pm as traffic police carried out routine checks near the city gate intersection.

Upon noticing the boy standing on the rear steps of the stationary ice delivery truck, the officer directed the driver to pull over. A Thai woman captured the heart-wrenching scene on video and shared it on her Facebook account. The driver was visibly shocked and confused when informed by the police that the child had been clinging to his vehicle for an extended period.

According to the Channel 7 report, the truck driver had recently delivered ice near the Saketart University Sakon Nakhon Campus before continuing towards the Chiang Khruea subdistrict. He had driven over 10 kilometers without stopping until he received the distressing news about the clinging boy. The boy was not visibly frightened or injured, but he initially did not speak with the officers.

Police took the child to the Mueang Sakon Nakhon Police Station, offering him snacks and milk while they worked to locate his family. Officers coordinated with other police stations to check for any missing child reports in the area, but none were found at the time. After extensive inquiries, the police were able to establish contact with the child's family and with the Sakon Nakhon Child and Family Shelter for assistance in locating his parents.

The shelter then worked with the local municipality, which dispatched officials to collect the child and safely return him to his family. The circumstances surrounding how the boy ended up clinging to the vehicle remain unclear, and there are no accounts from his family members about the incident.
