Qatar reaffirms open invitation to Iran over pilot search operations

Qatar maintains an open invitation for Iran to send a technical team to investigate search and rescue operations involving its pilots, according to HE Dr Majed bin Mohamed al-Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Qatar Minister expressed surprise at Iranian media claims, characterizing them as "completely baseless," and reaffirming Qatar's adherence to international and humanitarian obligations.

The incident occurred when an Iranian aircraft entered Qatari airspace in March and targeted Doha. Upon confirming the violation of Qatar's sovereignty, the aircraft were dealt with under the rules of engagement. Search and rescue teams then launched their operation to locate the pilot, who was subsequently found and returned to Iranian authorities for their funeral.

Qatar has since invited an Iranian technical team to review the details of the operations. Dr al-Ansari emphasized that Qatar remains focused on protecting its sovereignty and security, while stressing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and maintaining good relations in the region. Current regional issues include the violation of the ceasefire, the Strait of Hormuz, and the ongoing mediation efforts between Oman and Iran.

Diplomatic efforts remain intensive, with Qatar hoping for progress and the resumption of negotiations between the two nations.
