PHOTOS: Aiyedatiwa assesses Ondo market fire damage as victims seek aid

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa toured Sabo Market in Odigbo Local Government Area following a fire that devastated parts of the market on August 12. The blaze destroyed numerous shops and traders' goods, causing considerable financial harm. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor confirmed his visit to the market to assess the damage and express condolences to the affected traders.

Aiyedatiwa praised firefighters and local residents for their quick actions to contain the fire, which fortunately did not result in any casualties. He assured the victims that the government would provide assistance after the damage assessment, and directed the Ministry of Water Resources, Hygiene and Sanitation to locate suitable sites for boreholes in the area.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, pledged to investigate the underlying causes of the fire, emphasizing this was the third such incident in two years. Odigbo Local Government Chairman, Taiwo Michael Adegoroye, and the Iyaloja of Ore, Eniola Ogunlana, both commended the governor's prompt response and appealed for government support for the affected traders.
