The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved 23 new programmes for Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, located in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. These additional programmes will form part of the institution's total of 44 programmes. The approval was granted in a letter signed by Ayo Aroge, Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.

The newly accredited programmes will commence in the 2026/2027 academic session and will initially run for two years. The statement made by the institution's media unit noted that these programs serve as a testament to the visionary administration of the rector, Mrs. Edumma Essien. However, full accreditation of these programmes is anticipated following a quality assurance visit by the end of September 2028.
