Murray-Bruce asks Tinubu to fix Nigeria’s refineries

Ben Murray-Bruce, the founder of Silverbird Group and former senator, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to revitalize Nigeria's government-owned refineries. Speaking on X, Murray-Bruce lamented that despite Nigeria's vast crude oil reserves, the nation has become accustomed to exporting crude oil while importing refined products.

He called for the appointment of a competent leader to manage the refineries, stating that the nation needs individuals who prioritize results and are prepared to be unpopular if necessary. Tinubu had previously pledged to revive the refineries, emphasizing that success would be based on productivity rather than mere activities.

Murray-Bruce suggested that the refineries should aim to produce at least 50% of Dangote refinery's current daily output, which is 650,000 barrels. He also proposed that the government consider concessions or partnerships with world-class technical partners to ensure the refineries' efficiency.
