Murray-Bruce asks Tinubu to fix Nigeria’s refineries

Ben Murray-Bruce, founder of Silverbird Group and former senator, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action in reviving Nigeria’s government-owned refineries, Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna. The refineries, despite Nigeria's vast crude oil reserves, have been producing crude oil for export while importing the refined products.

Murray-Bruce argues that the nation cannot continue this "economic madness" and that the refineries need to be commercially viable and productive. He calls for the appointment of competent individuals to run the refineries, who are prepared to be unpopular if necessary. The former lawmaker supports the Tinubu administration but urges the government to find the right structure for the refineries, learn from successful models like Dangote refinery and establish benchmarks for production.
