Maharashtra To Begin 100-Day Door-To-Door Health Screening Campaign For People Above 30 From September 1

Maharashtra will commence a 100-day door-to-door health screening campaign from September 1 for individuals over the age of 30. Dubbed 'Thirty Years Milestone: Screening and Counselling', the program will focus on detecting and addressing diabetes, hypertension, and the three most common cancers—breast, cervical, and oral. Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has instructed officials to undertake this initiative with full commitment.

Teams of health workers will make visits to approximately 40-45 households each day, identify high-risk individuals and those with suspected cases, facilitate necessary diagnoses and treatments, and ensure follow-up via a digital dashboard.

In addition to the health screening campaign, the state will also seek assistance from corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds for tuberculosis (TB) elimination. This will encompass raising awareness, conducting targeted screenings, ensuring early diagnosis, and connecting patients with appropriate treatment. A healthcare pilot project will be launched in Kolhapur, with the aim of gradually expanding the project throughout Maharashtra.
