High Court to deliver Aug 24 ruling on Negeri Sembilan Undang eviction summons

Seremban, August 18 — The High Court announced that it will deliver a decision on August 24 regarding an eviction summons filed by the Negeri Sembilan state government against the official halls and residences of Undang Rembau and Undang Sungei Ujong. Judge Roz Mawar Rozain set the date after hearing arguments from the state's legal team, led by Muhammad Hariz Md Yusoff, and the plaintiffs' lawyers, Choo Shi Jin and Asmawi Ismail.

The Negeri Sembilan government has filed separate summons against Abdul Rahim Yasin and Datuk Mubarak Thahak, and other respondents may include occupants residing at the government-owned premises. The state seeks a declaration that the respondents are trespassers and orders them to vacate the premises immediately. The government claims ownership and authority over the public reserve land, which was gazetted under Section 62 of the National Land Code.

The eviction notices were served in April and June, but the respondents remain in possession, preventing the government from accessing the premises for nearly 50 days. The state argues that the defendants lack legal standing to file the summons, as the land control and administration should belong to the state director of Lands and Mines, not the state government.
