‘Heated Rivalry’ author Rachel Reid gives $300,000 to keep Nova Scotia libraries open

Canadian author Rachel Reid has contributed $300,000 to support libraries in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, which are struggling financially. The donation, billed as an annual subscription of $205.00 + GST for one year, will automatically renew at $233.00 + GST every 52 weeks. Reid emphasizes the importance of libraries as essential services and urged the provincial government to prioritize funding for them.

The Annapolis Valley Regional Library board had previously considered closing five out of its 11 branches due to budget constraints and rising costs, but the donation will help the library continue its services until the end of September.
