Goods worth millions of naira destroyed as fire ravages Ibadan market

A massive fire has destroyed goods worth millions of naira at Gbagi Market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The blaze erupted at 348 ZI/E Milo Zone, Bola Ige International Market, Gbagi, Ibadan around noon on Monday and was swiftly brought under control. While the inferno caused substantial damage to some shops, no lives were lost in the incident.

The Oyo State Fire Service Chairman, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the event and revealed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. According to Akinwande, two out of a row of nine lock-up shops were engulfed in flames when the fire brigade arrived. They immediately commenced firefighting operations, effectively stopping the fire from spreading to nearby shops and properties.
