Doctor clarifies palliative care after Ogogo’s daughters claim hospitals refused treatment

Doctor Olusina Ajidahun has addressed claims by the daughters of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, also known as Ogogo, that hospitals have declined to continue treating their father, who is suffering from stage-four cancer. The Bearded Dr Sina stated that their description of the situation could be misconstrued, particularly their claim that hospitals refused treatment.

He explained that patients with stage-four cancer may be shifted to palliative care after exploring chemotherapy and other available therapies. According to him, palliative care is end-of-life care aimed at managing symptoms and providing a good quality of life for terminal diseases. Dr Sina cautioned against the negative perception that could arise if people think hospitals are intentionally rejecting patients and advised the public against recommending unverified herbal remedies for stage-four cancer, which could cause further complications.

He emphasized that stage-four cancer indicates the disease has spread beyond the primary organ, urging the family to work closely with the medical team treating their father. Dr Sina expressed empathy for Ogogo's family and wished them well during their difficult times, clarifying that he was not involved in the actor's medical care and was commenting independently on the daughters' videos.
