Doctor clarifies palliative care after Ogogo’s daughters claim hospitals refused treatment

Doctor Olusina Ajidahun addressed the claims of Ogogo's daughters, Taiwo Hassan's daughters Lima and Kira Taiwo, who alleged that hospitals had refused to continue treating their father, a veteran Yoruba actor known for stage-four cancer. He clarified that hospitals might refer a stage-four cancer patient to palliative care, a form of end-of-life care focused on managing symptoms and improving quality of life rather than seeking a cure.

Ajidahun cautioned that the daughters' statement that hospitals had rejected their father could mislead the public and create negative perceptions of healthcare workers, potentially leading to hostility against medical professionals. He emphasized that stage-four cancer indicated the disease had spread beyond its initial site, emphasizing the importance of working with the medical team for the best outcome.

The doctor also warned against relying on unverified herbal remedies, stating that no herbs could effectively treat stage-four cancer, as they could cause additional complications and waste resources. He expressed sympathy for the family and urged them to collaborate closely with the healthcare team.
