Carrick’s dilemma: Whitwell expects 15 G/A Man Utd star to lead the line against Hull

Michael Carrick must decide between Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for the Manchester United striker role against Hull City. The game will be played at the MKM Stadium on Saturday at 12:30 UK time. Whitwell of the MUFC insider team is confident that Mbeumo will be chosen to start upfront. The 27-year-old, originally a winger, has played as a centre-forward in the past and was also tested in that role during recent friendly games.

Carrick may opt for Mbeumo over his primary target man, Benjamin Sesko, who missed the previous season due to injury and is unlikely to start again. Whitwell recommends Mbeumo over Matheus Cunha, suggesting the Brazilian will play on the left wing, while Patrick Dorgu would sit on the bench. Ayden Heaven could replace Lisandro Martinez in the backline, taking the place of Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, and Luke Shaw.

Mbeumo has been performing well since the beginning of the summer, starting his preparations early due to Cameroon's World Cup absence. Unlike Matheus Cunha, who returned from his post-WC vacation relatively late, Mbeumo has shown he can capitalize on long balls and finish chances when given the right service. Although Mbeumo may not be an aerial threat, his strength and speed allow him to bypass defenders in counterattacks.

However, if Hull City chooses to defend deeply, Mbeumo might struggle to break through packed defenses, making it a challenging match for him.
