Bengaluru woman killed husband with lover, strangled son who witnessed crime: Police

In Bengaluru, a 26-year-old woman named Harini has been arrested for allegedly killing her 35-year-old husband, Abhinandan, and their four-year-old son, Yaduveer, the Times of India reported. Police suspect Harini and her lover, Vinay, conspired to commit the murders at their home in Chikkabanavara.

After the killings, police allege that Harini's son Yaduveer witnessed his father's murder and was subsequently strangled by his mother to prevent him from revealing the crime. The bodies of both victims were found lying motionless on a bed when police arrived at the scene around 7am on Monday morning.

Police suspect that Abhinandan's body was placed over his son's in an attempt to make investigators believe that the father had killed the child before dying himself. However, inconsistencies in Harini's account and evidence found at the house led to the questioning of her version of events.

Investigators discovered blood stains and clothes bearing blood marks at the house, which appeared to have been washed and left to dry. They also found that CCTV cameras at the house had been turned off after 10pm on Sunday, the night of the murders. Harini had allegedly deleted call records, messages, and photographs from her mobile phone.

Police suspect that Harini and Vinay had been experiencing marital problems and frequently quarreled, with Harini leaving their home about three months earlier and leaving behind a letter. The couple's families kept the matter private in hopes of reconciliation.

The investigation also uncovered evidence of Harini's alleged relationship with Vinay. Police are examining whether property, including assets worth crores of rupees and a three-storey building in Chikkabanavara owned by Abhinandan, may have served as a motive for the killings. Harini and Vinay may have believed they could gain control of the property following Abhinandan's death.

The postmortem examination of the victims' bodies is pending, and police are awaiting the findings to establish the precise causes of death. The investigation into the double killing continues.
