Bauchi governor swears in 20 LG chairmen, warns against corruption

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed convened a ceremony at Government House in Bauchi to formally appoint the newly elected chairmen of the state's 20 local government areas. During the event, Mohammed cautioned the council chairmen against corruption and the misuse of public funds. He emphasized the newfound financial autonomy of local governments, reminding them that with this responsibility came the duty to provide good governance.

Mohammed urged the chairmen to manage resources with transparency and accountability, warning against any temptation to misappropriate or divert local government funds. He stated that their positions came with the responsibility of serving the people, not of sharing public money. The governor encouraged the newly elected officials to focus on critical sectors such as security, education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, and to work collaboratively with traditional rulers, security agencies, women, youths, and other stakeholders to maintain peace across the state.

In addition to the swearing-in, Mohammed congratulated the chairmen on their election and directed them to commence work immediately. He noted that their performance would be closely monitored by both the government and the public. Furthermore, the governor swore in six new special advisers, based on their experience, competence, and loyalty, urging them to contribute to the achievement of the administration's goals.
