Awaluddin dilantik speaker DUN N Sembilan kali kedua

Awaludin Said has been appointed as the Speaker of the Dewan Undangan Negeri Sembilan for the second time after taking his oath of office during the first session of the inaugural general meeting held at the State Government Complex today. (Picture Bernama) As the Deputy President of Umno Rembau, Awaludin was appointed as the 16th Speaker of the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) of Negeri Sembilan by the Chief Minister Ismail Lasim and supported by Linggi Adun Faizal Ramli.

At 66 years old, Awaludin then took the oath of office before DUN Secretary Mohd Amin Ludin at the first session of the 16th DUN general meeting at the State Government Complex. Earlier, Amin informed that he has accepted a nomination for the position of Speaker under Rule 2, Section 7(1) of the State Government Corporation Act of Negeri Sembilan.

He has already received notification of the same. Each member who wishes to propose a name for a Speaker must ensure that the person is willing to serve if elected, he added. Awaludin was Speaker of the DUN from 2013-2018. At the meeting, 35 out of 36 Adun took the oath as representatives of the people for the new term, consisting of 25 from the ruling coalition, 18 from the Barisan Nasional (BN) and seven from the Perikatan Nasional (PN), and 11 Adun from the opposition bloc.

However, Mohamad Hasan (BN-Rantau), who is deputy minister, was absent from the meeting due to official duties and will take the oath later. The meeting also elected Paroi Adun Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zain as the Deputy Speaker of the DUN. In his remarks, Awaludin reminded all Adun to put the interests of the people first and translate the mandate given through effective service.

He said winning in the elections is not just a political achievement, but carries a great responsibility and duty to be performed with utmost dedication for the advancement of the state. The election has already taken place, it is now time for us to move forward together and focus all efforts on the trust given by the people, he added.

Awaludin also emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and harmony to ensure that every DUN meeting runs smoothly, decorously, and productively. He urged all Adun to use the Malaysia Day celebration as a catalyst to further strengthen unity and maintain social harmony. The welfare of the people must be translated into tangible actions through policies and measures that benefit all people regardless of their backgrounds, he said.

Following the PRN 1 August last year, BN and PN each won 18 and seven seats respectively, forming a two-thirds majority.
