Anutin arrives in Sydney to advance Thailand-Australia strategic partnership

Bangkok — On Sunday night, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul touched down in Sydney for an official visit aimed at bolstering the Thailand-Australia Strategic Partnership. Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek revealed Anutin touched down at 22:00 Sydney time, three hours ahead of Thailand. He is in Australia from August 17-20 at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The trip seeks to convert the two nations' strategic partnership into tangible cooperation across various sectors, she explained. Anutin was greeted by New South Wales Attorney-General Michael John Daley, acting deputy head of protocol Laura Thomson, and deputy chief of protocol Karina Cameron. An official welcome ceremony is set for Wednesday, August 19, at Parliament House in Canberra.

On Monday, Anutin plans to pay a courtesy call on New South Wales Governor at Government House before delivering a speech at the Lowy Institute on Thailand's vision for relations with Australia and Indo-Pacific cooperation. He will then meet Thai community members and visit Thai Town before meeting executives from Canva Pty Ltd. and touring its office.

The focus will be on digital technology, innovation, and opportunities in the digital economy. Later that day, Anutin will attend a networking reception at Crown Sydney to foster trade and investment ties between Thai and Australian businesses. Dinner with Thai business representatives will follow before his departure to Canberra at 21:30.

"The visit to Australia is an important opportunity to build on Thailand-Australia relations in every dimension," Rachada affirmed. "The government values turning the strategic partnership into practical cooperation in the economy, security, clean energy, technology, and innovation, creating benefits for businesses and people in both countries."
