A police escort, a sick child, and a kindness this father won’t forget

George Town, Penang - Morning traffic in the city was sluggish as Muhamad Fitrizuhaili Haris rushed his nine-year-old son, Muhamad Faaeq, to Penang Hospital due to a sudden collapse. Trapped in heavy congestion near the junction of Jalan Yeap Chor Ee and Jalan Masjid Negeri, Fitrizuhaili's pleas for assistance were quickly heard by Corporal R Sivaraj and Constable Jerico Jaitin of the Timur Laut district police headquarters.

The two officers, recognizing the urgency, immediately cleared a path through the traffic and escorted the family's vehicle straight to the hospital. Their kindness did not end there. Once they arrived, Sivaraj fetched a wheelchair and assisted in bringing Faaeq into the emergency department, while also alerting medical staff to his condition. The officers remained by the family's side, offering words of encouragement to the anxious father throughout the waiting period.

Fitrizuhaili expressed his deep gratitude, stating that the kindness and concern shown by the officers far surpassed any form of recognition. For him, the most important outcome was ensuring his son received prompt medical attention and was in stable condition. Penang police later commended the officers for their actions, though the father remains focused on the immeasurable impact their actions had on his family during a critical time.
