Johor Police have detained four men, including a Singaporean national, for allegedly obstructing traffic police officers performing duties near the Sultan Iskandar Building in Johor Bahru. According to Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei, the Southern Johor Bahru Police Chief, the incident occurred on Sunday, and all the suspects aged between 25 and 46 years were arrested between 12:15 am and 1:45 am that same day.

Initial investigations revealed the cause of the dispute to be a misunderstanding involving three local men and one foreign national using a weapon. The foreign national then allegedly provoked a traffic police officer at BSI interchange, trying to calm the involved man, the Chief said in a statement, cited by Sinar Harian. Police also seized a balaclava and a knife from the suspects.

Records show two suspects have 16 previous criminal and drug records. All suspects were remanded until tomorrow for further investigation under Section 148 Penal Code for wounding with a deadly weapon and Section 186 Penal Code for obstructing a public servant. Earlier, a video surfaced on social media showing a suspected Singaporean man provoking two traffic police officers near the BSI building.
