On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had conducted a recent crackdown on illegal outdoor seating in valleys and rivers across the province, finding a total of 23 cases of illegal occupancy. The 23 cases included 10 cases in which vendors installed and operated outdoor seating without permission in valleys and rivers, and 13 cases in which vendors occupied and used valleys and rivers without permission. Gyeonggi Province took measures such as administrative orders and restoration orders against those who were found to have violated the law. Gyeonggi Province plans to conduct a second crackdown on illegal outdoor seating in valleys and rivers in the second half of the year. Earlier, in June of last year, Gyeonggi Province conducted a crackdown on illegal outdoor seating in valleys and rivers, finding 101 cases. In response to the findings, the province issued 49 administrative orders and 52 restoration orders. The province also collected 420 million won in unauthorized occupation fees. Gyeonggi Province emphasized that it will continue to conduct intensive crackdowns and inspections on illegal outdoor seating in valleys and rivers to ensure that the people can safely use natural recreational areas such as valleys and rivers.
