2027 Peace Accord: APC rejects violence, hate speech, misinformation -Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu cautioned political parties, candidates, and signatories to the 2027 peace accord against using ethnic, religious, and primordial divisions for political gain. During the signing ceremony, Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, stressed that campaign activities should not weaken national unity or compromise social stability.

The president acknowledged that political disagreements are part of a functioning democracy, but warned against resorting to divisive sentiments. Tinubu called for constructive debate, focusing on policies that foster national development and enhance citizens' welfare. He emphasized the APC's commitment to rejecting electoral violence, hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation, especially via social media and AI platforms.

Tinubu praised the National Peace Committee, chaired by General Abdulsalami Abubakar, for its work in organizing peace pacts since 2014. He also highlighted recent electoral reforms by the Independent National Electoral Commission, such as the Permanent Voter's Card and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, which have improved election transparency and reduced ballot manipulation.
