2027: I have no candidate yet, won’t support APC — Davido

Afrobeats musician Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has disclosed that he does not currently have a preferred presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. During an interview on News Central TV, the star stated that he has not yet chosen a candidate and that he would not be supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing questions about his political inclinations, Davido clarified that his personal convictions remain independent of any political party. He recalled his past support for opposition figures and parties, including the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC, when his late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon), was a part of the latter. However, he emphasized that his stance for 2027 is still open, except for the ruling party.

Davido's comments come amidst increased public scrutiny following his active involvement in the Osun State election cycle, where he played a crucial role in mobilizing voters and advocating for transparent election results. His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, the re-elected Governor of Osun State, supports President Bola Tinubu for a second term, citing his belief that the President, being a Yoruba man from the South-West, deserves backing to advance his reforms and infrastructure projects in the region.
