1,750 Litres Of Ghee Worth ₹6.8 Lakh Seized In Indore, 18 Samples Sent For Lab Tests

Indore's Food Safety Administration officials confiscated approximately 1,750 litres of ghee, valued at Rs 6.80 lakh, from a local establishment on Tuesday. The seized ghee included two brands, Manthan and Shri Anand, manufactured in Gujarat and distributed to Indore. Inspectors examined Maa Baglamukhi Enterprises in Scheme No 51 to evaluate the quality of products stored and sold within the premises.

Upon discovery of various pack sizes of ghee from different batches, officials collected 18 samples for testing at a food laboratory to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. The samples were dispatched to the lab, and the seized ghee will remain under custody until the laboratory's reports are obtained. Officials highlighted ongoing special inspections of ghee imported to Indore and other regions of Madhya Pradesh from outside the state, targeting manufacturers, distribution points, wholesalers, and retailers.

Samples from multiple batches are being collected for testing. Legal actions under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related rules will be initiated based on the laboratory's findings. Authorities emphasized that the inspection campaign will persist, with violations subject to legal consequences. Additionally, two individuals were arrested for highway robbery near Surlakhedi Bridge, with their stolen SUV recovered in Indore.
