Why Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is a house divided

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs finds itself divided, as it prepares to unveil the eagerly anticipated Delhi Master Plan 2047. Union Minister Manohar Lal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta are set to address a press conference later this week to announce the plan's notification, approved by the Delhi Development Authority last week.

The master plan could serve as a catalyst for India's economic growth under Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's leadership, as PM Narendra Modi expressed his well wishes on her birthday, praising her as a significant factor in India's journey towards self-reliance. Meanwhile, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar returned to the Supreme Court Bar Association after a hiatus, marking his return with a vote during the party's election on Tuesday.

The newly reconstituted Prime Ministers' Museum & Library Society's 47th annual general meeting, chaired by Modi, is yet to set a date. Meanwhile, the BJP's youth wing, led by Hemang Joshi, is organizing film festivals under the banner of 'Operation Sindoor' and 'Har ghar desi ghar ghar swadeshi'. The bifurcation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has left its construction arms, CPWD and NBCC, adjusting to their new roles under the Department of Capital Development.
