Villanova to host Coppin State on Nov. 24

Coppin State University will be hosting Villanova University in an upcoming basketball game, scheduled for November 24. According to Coppin State's official schedule release, the matchup is a late-November clash between the two teams. The Coppin State Men's Basketball Schedule, released on August 17, 2026, indicates that the Eagles will be traveling to Villanova for the game.

Last season, Coppin State finished with a 7-24 record (5-9 in MEAC play), ranking sixth in an eight-team league. The Eagles were ineligible for the MEAC Tournament due to Academic Progress Rate penalties imposed by the NCAA. Leading Coppin State is Larry Stewart, who is in his fourth season as head coach.

The game represents a significant opportunity for Villanova, as it is the team's first known "buy game." The complete schedule, expected to be released soon, currently includes games against Rutgers (October 11, exhibition), Notre Dame (November 1 in Rome, Italy), Pittsburgh (November 17), Coppin State (November 24), Kansas (November 27), Wisconsin (December 12), and potential matchups against Michigan, Temple, and La Salle in various Big 5 Classic events.

With 11 out-of-conference games on the table, Villanova has just one more game to schedule, which is also expected to be against a low-major institution.
