Trump threatens to bomb Oman if it 'gets in the way' over Iran issue

President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb the US ally Oman if it interferes with his administration's separate talks with Iran. The two countries, along with Iran, have been negotiating to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global trade that has been largely closed for nearly six months during the US-Iran conflict.

Trump made the threat while speaking on a phone call with Fox News, using profanity during the conversation. Earlier, Iranian officials claimed they were near finalizing a deal with Oman. The future of US-Iran talks remains uncertain, as the 60-day Memorandum of Understanding between the two nations is set to expire. Trump, in an Oval Office press conference, was asked about extending the MoU, to which he responded "No."

The reopening of the Strait has been a key point of discussion. Oman, a neutral country in the conflict, has faced several Iranian strikes and is actively involved in negotiations with Tehran. Trump also claimed to have a direct line of communication with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, though Iran's foreign ministry denied any ongoing talks.
