This Free Windows App is Better Than Phone Link in Every Way

Microsoft's Phone Link enables Android phones to connect with Windows PCs, facilitating notification reception, messaging, calls, and content transfer. However, advanced features are limited to specific phones. Sefirah, an open-source alternative, connects Android phones to Windows computers on the local network without requiring an online account or brand restrictions.

Free and open source, Sefirah's Android app is on Google Play. Pairing is straightforward, with Android devices finding compatible PCs on the network, and users approve the connection on the PC. Files are stored in a chosen location without depending on a cloud account. Sefirah features a shared clipboard, allowing text and file transfers between devices.

It also displays Android notifications on Windows, enables SMS management, and supports Bluetooth calls with call history and controls. Screen mirroring through scrcpy lets users view and control an Android screen from a computer, and turn the phone into a remote control for media playback and PC volume. A Linux version exists, though some Windows features are pending.

Sefirah provides many Phone Link features without a Microsoft account or phone-brand limitations, offering full storage access and an open-source, local-first approach for Android users seeking tighter Windows integration.
