Season 4 of the political thriller series The Diplomat is set to premiere on Netflix on October 15, with all eight episodes released simultaneously. The trailer released by Netflix shows Kate Wyler, played by Keri Russell, attempting to mend her marriage with her husband Hal. Kate admits to Hal that their relationship is filled with "high highs" and "really low lows," stating that their fights are going to be "spicy."

Despite the tense atmosphere between the couple, Kate vows to remain by his side "for better or for worse." In the upcoming season, two marriages are set to threaten each other, as a catastrophic event shatters the peace that Kate brokered between the U.S. and U.K., and her marriage is put to the test. While she strives to prevent the crumbling marriage from falling apart, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler's plot to steal Russia's most powerful weapon propels the United States towards war.

Season 3 of The Diplomat concluded with Kate discovering her husband's secret conspiracy with President Grace Penn to steal a nuclear warhead from a Russian submarine, all without the knowledge of their U.K. allies.
