Tesla to launch Cybercab in Austin this month - report

Tesla Inc. is set to unveil its first vehicle without a steering wheel or brake pedal, the Cybercab, in Austin, Texas, according to a report by The Information. The company has been preparing for the launch in recent weeks, including test drives and employee training with local first responders. Tesla has been testing the Cybercab on public roads since June, with employees taking rides on private roads around its Austin campus since July.

The two-seater vehicle is designed for Tesla's autonomous ride-hailing service, Robotaxi. The public rollout is expected to start with employee rides on public roads, followed by integration into the Robotaxi service within days. The internal target for the launch is the end of August, though the timeline may change as final preparations are completed.
